How to get Grant Money?

First Determine the grant program that you may qualify for

Program Eligible Fleet Size Summary Maximum Grant $ Est. Timing for Applications
State Proposition 1B (Prop 1b) 1 and up Applicant must scrap a 2003 or older truck if selected for award Up to $60k for a 2010 engine and up to 40k for a 2007-2009 engine. A Third Round of Applications will be announced in Fall 2010 for early 2011 funding.
Voucher Incentive Program (VIP) 1 to 3, no port trucks Owned and operated in CA 75% of the time for the previous 2 years Old diesel vehicles with a GVWR > 19,501 lbs. Operating a minimum of 15k miles per year or consuming 4,700 gallons of diesel fuel per year during the previous 2 years. Replacing a 2002 and older vehicle can receive a maximum of $45k and $10k for a diesel retro fit First come first serve until 15 million is gone
Hybrid Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Program (HVIP) One and up using the Eaton hybrid system
  • Eligible are individuals, businesses, non-profits, or government entities based in CA.
  • Recipient commits to operate the vehicle 100% within CA for at least (3) years after the voucher redemption date.
 UP to $35k until June 30, 2012 First come first serve until $25 million is gone
California Capital Access Program (CalCAP) One to 20 trucks
  • Applicants must have 100 or fewer employees, $10 mil in annual revenue (avg over (3) years
  • Up to $1.5 million per applicant for new trucks.
  • As of May 2010 only $1.5 million in Gov't funds committed of $21 million on deposit for this program
  • Start the process if eligible
  • Applicant must use a qualified lender
Carl Moyer Program One and up Really only good for cleaner engines than current Capped at $16k per ton of pollution reduced which means that detailed vehicle miles are needed Check Air District web sites for future programs
